Ottoman Infantry (Gallipoli)
Introduction

Turkish infantry for early part of war, particularly Gallipoli.

Basic uniform was a tunic with two pockets on the skirts (flap only showing), and sometimes two more pockets on the lower breast (again, flap only showing). Fall collar and plain shoulder straps, but no cuffs visible. Breeches and puttees on lower leg with short boots on the feet. Headress was either a simple turban or more usually a helmet made of wicker frame with 2 strips of cloth wound round it in various fashions.

Kit was a knapsack, waistbelt with three small ammo pouches on either side of buckle (or sometimes a bandolier round waist or shoulder), water bottle, haversack, bayonet scabbard, and sometimes tent part and greatcoat wrapped round pack.

Rifle was the Mauser 1893, which was 123 cms total length without bayonet.
